Desert Hot Springs Chapter Fundraisers Successful

“Our GSMOL chapter would like to thank our supporters and other contributors who have donated funds, so that the Hidden Springs Country Club could buy bicycles for the Desert Hot Springs Family Resource Center as gifts for the needy. We have also been able to contribute funds to our upcoming golf tournament which supports Food Now in Desert Hot Springs.”

Park Closure Ordinances In Progress In Goleta and Santa Barbara

“Santa Barbara and Goleta manufactured-home park residents are working with their City Councils on park closure compensation ordinances for their cities. Ken Tatro of Rancho Estates’ homeowners association, known as Monarch Associates, and Sharon Rose of University Village are spearheading the Goleta ordinance; while the Santa Barbara effort is being led by members of Flamingo MHP and neighboring parks, with the assistance of Region 8 Associate Manager Anne Anderson. Both ordinances will require in-place market value compensation to the homeowners if the park should close. Chapter members in Flamingo and University will assist with an outreach to homeowners in the parks in their respective areas to support their ordinances.”

Chapter 708 Membership Drive
January, 2015
Chapter 708 carried out a membership drive in park office the last few days of December and the first few days of January when residents came in to pay their rent. We signed up 27 new members and got 77 renewals.
We conducted our annual meeting with free wine and cheese tasting party afterwards for members in good standing. Guest speaker was Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood.
