GET YOUR STORY OUT!

If you read the news articles that stream across the top of our website, you can see evidence that when many voices speak out against injustice, it is more likely that the people who can help will listen.

The whole point of knowing what the law says and banding together for People Power is so that you can make a difference in protecting the rights of your friends and neighbors who live in your mobilehome park – and maybe people in other parks in your city or county as well – when those rights are being violated, if you are able to influence the people who make the laws.

So if you follow those first two things that GSMOL urges you to do, the obvious thing to do next is the third one: Get Your Story Out.

If your group of people shows up at a City Council or Board of Supervisors meeting and at least some of them speak during the Public Comment period, they can talk about anything – even if it is not on the agenda.  Wear GSMOL T-shirts (or shirts of the same color) and sit together to make a visual impression.

Contact your local news media and try to get an interview with the reporter who handles “people” stories. Gather as many of your residents together as you can to meet with him or her. Encourage the reporter to visit your park to interview people.

People Power doesn’t cost any money (well, except for buying those GSMOL T-shirts!) and no one person becomes a target. All it takes is knowing your rights, banding together, and getting your story out. GSMOL CAN HELP! Contact your local GSMOL leader or send a contact request on our website!
